Ven. Pomnyun's Answer to "How do I reconcile different philosophies and religions?”
Selection from a Dharma Q&A session at Southdale Library, Minneapolis, Minnesota (Sep 12, 2018)

I recently began teaching yoga as a physical practice and I have also dived into yoga philosophy. There has been so much life giving attribute from yoga that I have loved and have given me so much insightful things and enlightenment that nothing has ever before. But there are also aspects of Buddhism that are also life giving to me. There are aspects of Christianity that are also life giving to me and those around me. My husband and I were at this crossroads of like "what are we gonna do with our spiritual lives?" " What do we do with spiritual lives of your children?" We have pressure from grandparents. You need to put your kid in bible school. And that doesn’t feel right to us either. There are all these different philosophies, spiritual religious philosophies that we are essentially picking and choosing what works for us. But that doesn’t feel right either. My questions is how do I reconcile, my husband and I or anybody, how do we reconcile all these pieces of all these different philosophies and religions, and make it into an authentic and straight forward life. Not even just for myself but for my family, but for my student who I teach yoga to as well.
